HMS Lacedemonian (1796)
HMS ''Lacedemonian'' (or ''Lacedaemonian'') was the French brig ''Lacedemonienne'', launched in 1793, that the British captured in 1796 near Barbados. She was at the capture of Saint Lucia in May of the next year, but the French re-captured her a year after that.

and captured ''Lacedemonian'' on 9 March 1796 to the windward of Barbados. She was described as a privateer brig of 14 guns and 90 men. The British took her into service and commissioned her in May under the command of the newly promoted Commander George Sayer.〔Winfield (2008), p.336.〕
